Monday morning Good Morning America did a segment on Dorm Decorating and one of my Pillows was featured!!!!
I have been making pillows for a local company in Wellington for several years. Decor 2 Your Door specializes in Dorm and Teen Decor - and soon nursery as well. GMA reached out to Robin, the owner, to do a special feature on College Move in Day. And lucky for me, she decided that a Katydid Pillow was a must for the segment.
It was so exciting to see one of my designs featured on Good Morning America - National TV!!!!!

Wipeout Kick Off Party
This year is all about CF.... first Jeremy gave his kidney to Ashley (who has CF) and now I am on the committee a Cystic Fibrosis Event - Arthur's Jam.
The Charity Event is October 13th at the Lake Front Pavilion on the Waterfront in Downtown West Palm Beach. The theme this year is Wipeout - classic Surf. And I am chairing the logistics....so you know it is going to be a great party.
Our Kick Off Party is this Wednesday, Aug 29th at Cha Cha's on Palm Beach. There will be free Sangria and light bites. And stay for dinner and receive a free pitcher of Sangria.
Hope you can make it

Mission Trip
I am so excited to announce, that my hubby and I are leading another Mission Trip to Pucallpa, Peru. This will be our 6th trip down to the Jungles of Peru! Each year we lead the trip with Christ Fellowship, the church we attend at CityPlace in West Palm Beach.
We typically lead the trip in June, but this year it got moved to the end of September - God must have known we needed the extra time! Plus Christ Fellowship is rolling out a new Mission Model, so we are now aligning our trip with their new format..... meaning - cultivating life mission minded team members, raising more funds to significantly impact the local regions, going more often, and increasing resources and impact. Really, the things Jeremy and I have been praying about for 5 years. It has also been exciting to go through their new trainings and finding that our way of doing missions pretty much align with their goals - so it has been a huge blessing all the way around.
So with all this long wordiness, I am trying to say we are heading back to Peru and are super excited.

Dear Friends and Family,
This year
has been an exciting time for Jeremy and myself. Many of you have followed along with our
organ donation journey and the successful kidney transplant surgery on February
21st. The entire donation story can be
found on our blog at www.jeremy-kate.com.
Since the surgery, both Jeremy and Ashley have recovered
wonderfully. There has been a few setbacks,
but we are so blessed that both of them are healthy! Throughout this entire processes we have felt
God's presence and protection and we know this journey is just another part of
God's plan for our lives.
It is
amazing to think that the kidney donation story started over 5 years ago in
Peru. Really it was that first trip to
Pucallpa that was a catalyst for change in both Jeremy and my life. It is where I met my future husband and
watched the friendship between Jeremy and Ashley begin. It is amazing to reflect on how our work in
Peru has furthered God's kingdom and significantly impacted our lives. So with much joy and excitement, Jeremy and I
are heading back to Pucallpa, Peru for the sixth straight year. As we return to Peru, we want to share with
you the ministry that God has laid on our hearts.
This year we are leading a team of
12 members on September 20th
– 30th. Again this year we will be
going through Christ Fellowship
and partnering with United Servants Abroad, a ministry that focuses its
efforts
in the jungles of Peru through medical care, and Bible and leadership
training. The Bible Institute in
Pucallpa trains couples, in a two year program, to reach remote villages
through discipleship and church plantings. Our mission trip will be
focused on
the construction and sewing needs of the institute. The construction
team will likely be
completing the third story expansion of the Chapel. The sewing room has
two focuses; Making curtains, which serve as the couples’
only privacy in shared rooms and are often used as their towels, tissues and
napkins. And sewing lessons for the natives, and more specifically teaching them skills to provide a sustainable income for their family.
Jeremy and I have been
so touched this year by the out pouring of your love and support. Throughout the kidney donation, we knew we
had a strong network of people praying over us.
As we plan to return to Peru, we ask for your prayer and support
again. We truly appreciate all those who
have supported us since our first trip and those who have come along side us
these past six years. As this trip comes
together, we know it is only possible through Christ. We ask that you pray for this mission trip,
for our whole team, safety and for the work to be done.
In
addition to your pray, financial contributions will also help our mission. As a team, our goal is to raise over $28,000.
We are each required to raise $2,000 to fund our portion of the trip. We have increased the cost of the trip per
person so that the funds of the trip can better serve the mission of
Pucallpa. Donations can be made to each individual team member through
online giving or donations to Christ Fellowship Life Missions.
We will also be selling T-Shirts again this year.
The design and details will be posted on our blog in the next week or
so. We will also be posting updates and
status of our trip HERE on our website.
Thank you for your
continuous love and support. Jeremy and
I cannot express enough how much we appreciated our friends and family this
year. We know that God has and can do
great things in and through our lives.
And each step of the way, we have been blessed by your kindness and
support. We look forward to sharing more
of the exciting ministry in Pucallpa and the ways God continues to move in our
lives.
Kate

Golden Birthday
Back
on May 30th, I turned the BIG 3-0.... Not only was it a monumental
birthday, it was also my Golden Birthday {turning 30 on the 30th}. I
took the liberty and informed Jeremy that a Golden Birthday is a big
deal. He then created "30 Days of 30". The most Amazing Birthday
Celebration Ever!
For the 30 days leading up to my 30th Birthday, he gave me a gift every day. Yes, everyday I got a gift! I LOVED every minute of it and did not want it to end.
Here is a highlight of some of the gifts he gave me....
Over the 30 days, I posted pictures of all my gifts on Facebook.... I found that every girl was jealous and wanted her husband to do likewise AND that every man was mad at Jeremy for making them look bad. But no matter who it was, they all agreed it was a very special birthday celebration!
I think after a month long celebration and over 30 gifts (yes, some days I got multiple), I think my hubby wins husband of the year!
Thank you hubby for making it a very special birthday

The Past 5 Months
So much of my life is wrapped up in my business - there is this intermingle between the two that it is sometimes hard to define the difference. I have a passion for my business and pour so much of myself into it. But there is this whole personal side to my life. And many times that personal side seeps into Katydid. It is the beauty of owning your own business, that sometimes the business takes over and sometimes the personal life takes over.
Back in February and March, my personal life took over. I turned off all my machines, cancelled all my shows and walked away from the daily business. I am so blessed that I could do such a thing because my husband and my best friend needed me!
On February 21st, my hubby donated his kidney to my best friend!
Ashley, who has Cystic Fibrosis, is my dearest college friend. We first met during our study abroad in London my Junior year of college. We became fast friends and traveled the world together - up until this past year, she was the one I had visited the most countries with. She also shared in the benefit of my internship with a fashion company in London - lets just say we both returned home with way to much luggage.
Eleven years ago she received a double lung transplant. Two years ago she was put on the kidney donor list, but knowing her health issues, she needed to find a living donor. So Jeremy and I began the process of becoming a donor in 2010. It took nearly1 1/2 years to set a surgery date - February 21st. So for over a month, we relocated to UNC hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. Both surgeries were a success, and I got to take on a new role of being "nurse". I continued to take care of Jeremy once we returned home - he was on medical leave for over 6 weeks.
During that time, I was so thankful to be able to devote my entire attention to both my best friend and husband. This is just one of the many reasons I love my job!!!
Throughout the kidney donation journey, Jeremy and I wrote a blog to document the experience. The entire story is truely beautiful and inspirational (not to mention all the stress, frustration and set backs). I am so proud to have such a wonderful husband who would make the most selfless act.
And now, over 5 months later, both Ashley and Jeremy are doing Great!
If you would like to read the whole story (in much better details), visit our Blog. www.jeremy-kate.com. This post HERE is a great starting point to catch up on the donation.
Throughout this entire journey, Jeremy and I have been so touched by the love and support from our friends and family. In addition, I was so thankful for all my wonderful customers who were flexible with delivery dates and understanding when I didn't return emails. Thank you for supporting me these past few months - it means the world to me.

Flower Sandals
Sandals are an essential part of life - especially life in South Florida. I have been known to own a few pairs of sandals - and heals, and boots, and so on. And now I am head over heals for our Katydid Flower Sandals.... and I am not alone. The flower sandals are so very popular with our customers - several have been known to order multiple pairs after they buy their first pair. Once you take a look, and try them on, you too will become a big fan!
I LOVE that the flowers are changeable to have endless color options. Plus, I LOVE that the shoes are washable - you just take the flowers off and throw the shoes into the washer machine.
The sandals are a perfect fit for everyone

Sew and Tell: Puple Obsession
The Benjamin School is one of my best and oldest store accounts. They are a large private school that is highly regarded in this area (think celeb kids and all). And the best part, they get to wear Katydid belts and headbands with their uniforms!
Their uniforms are not your normal drab attire. No, they get to wear fun colored polos - like PINK, blue, teal, yellow, red and now PURPLE.
When the store introduces a new color shirt there is a frenzy. Literately, parents and kids are clambering to get the newest color - it is known to involve tears and all. And there is already a waiting list for anything purple.
Last week I restocked the belts and headbands, which included a few random purple items. Today I went back to full stock the store in Purple beauties. Tons of purple belts - Lavender Valley: a newer favorite with purples and jades and a All New All Purple! Plus TONS of purple headbands (21 of them).
If you want to add your own purple Katydid to your collection - don't waste time and head over to the Benjamin Nook right away. Oh and a very nice bonus, they are doing 20% off till the end of May.
Happy Purple Day

Katydid Show: St Thomas
Today I made a very early drive to Miami - left the house at 4:45 am.
I have been wanting to do a show ar St. Thomas in Coral Gables for some time so I was excited to get the invite.
It is always fun to go to a different area for a show because there is a whole new set of vendors. Of course my friend Kristin Pearce was there with her beautiful jewelry and cute stationary. Also there was my new friend Cherie with her hand stamped, sea inspired home decor prints.
I had a great day (and was just a little tired). Can't wait to join in their even bigger fall event.
